Context

Air quality has a major impact on health. Urban planning choices and industrial activities therefore have a major impact on public health. However, the toxicity of pollutants is often only studied separately, and it is not easy to determine the actual exposure of the population to different pollutants. This requires the use of complex models, incorporating measurements of both ambient air quality and air quality in the premises where these people stay.

Objective

acceptedThe ACCEPTED project, with its interdisciplinary approach, aims to provide an answer to this question. Different scenarios will be simulated in order to determine the impact that air pollution could have on certain parts of the population, focusing primarily on sensitive subjects. Epidemiological studies will be carried out in 3 countries to estimate the impact of certain pollutants (NO2, VOCs, BTEX, Formaldehyde) on fetuses and young children. Passive tubes attached to a module will be placed in the children’s bedrooms and analyzed.
