October 16, 2019 – “Waste disposal” and “By-products” training, Namur

Recently, the Walloon government adopted the “Removal of waste status” and “By-products” decrees. It will be possible to request the removal from waste status of an item resulting from a recycling or recovery process. We can also request recognition of a by-product for an element resulting from a process whose purpose is not to produce it. This voluntary administrative procedure must be initiated by the owner of such an item.

These two statuses offer a guarantee of the quality of the substance or object placed on the market as soon as it meets the criteria for verification of compliance with the four general conditions for removal from waste status or recognition as a by-product. Other practical and financial advantages have also been identified, notably in terms of taxation, transport and licensing.

In this context, the Administration and ISSeP are organizing an information session to clarify this new legislation and the practical and administrative procedures involved.

This information will also enable participants to efficiently prepare applications for by-product recognition or “end-of-waste” status.
